There are some places where Gould's, Flavi's and Argus all live in the same area. The similarities between the species and their close proximity to each other frequently make identifying the species difficult.

The Gould鈥檚 monitor generally has a flatter body with a long neck. They range from a mouse-brown to grayish brown with yellow flecks and/or stripes. Adults reach 140-160cm in length.

Gould鈥檚 monitor is most active during the day, when they forage. Their diet consists of anything smaller than them: insects, smaller lizards, mice, snakes and carrion, etc.

They spend most of their time on the ground, although they do swim and climb, but not as much as the Argus monitor.

Argus monitors have a larger distinction in size between the sexes; females are generally only 3 feet (90cm) in length while males can reach 4ft (120cm). They are yellow with a touch of dark tan or brown. Color patterns vary with the areas in which they live.

They also spend most of their time on the ground and dig a lot. Argus monitors run faster than Goulds. They are also better swimmers than Gould鈥檚.

Argus is also unique in that they regularly stand up on their hind legs. Most other monitor species do not do that.

Argus monitors share the same diet as the Gould monitor, but also include fish, crab, and small birds in their diet.

Both monitors have large appetites and are often aggressive.Diffrents between:goulds moniter and argus moniter?
