Going to re-skin some antique cameras. Argus C4 and Leica III. Best way to remove the old covering & glue?

I suggest a visit to this site: http://www.cameraleather.com They recommend a citrus-based product such as Goo Gone. I would be very, very hesitant to use any solvent such as nail polish remover or any other flammable liquid. So visit the referenced site and read up on how to re-skin your camera.Going to re-skin some antique cameras. Argus C4 and Leica III. Best way to remove the old covering %26amp; glue?
I've had no problems with methylated spirits (wood alcohol in the USA), it's ideal it softens the glue then evaporates completely away leaving no residue, most of these cameras are metal bodied under the covering, plastic might be a problem though.
