Thanks so much! :)
(I'm looking for a first car for my daughter that's not too pricey)Can someone give me some basic info on government car auctions?
your best bet for a used car is always a private party car. Many people dont seem to understand that auctions and dealers of any type are a great way to get ripped off in the first place. Most car auctions are there to get rid of problem cars, there may be some good auctions but the ones dealers get hooked up with are the best because they buy in quantitly of like 500 cars, something the average joe cannot do. The reason it works like that is the dealer may make all his money on 400 good cars he got, and will just dump all the crap to someone else who will likely recycle then in another auction in a different part of the country. The way to get on govornment lists is call each agency and find out when the auction is and make a note or to write and get on the mailing lists. Once you do that part of the leg work and have your auction lists of names , places and phone numbers and dates of auctions you are all set to go. Problem is all the good stuff is culled and shuffled somewhere else by the people who are in the know on how that auction thing works. Can someone give me some basic info on government car auctions?
You are better of buying locally from private seller. You can find a good deal buying from gov auction but expect to spend money on repairs.
