Yes you can get cheap cars.But be prepared almost all the cars at goverment aucitons need alot of repair work or have been wrecked.there is also a VERY high probability that the car you buy will not run so be prepared to have it towed since you must have it removed from the auciton site in 24to48hours.You will also have to rebuild the title and you are not allowed to legally drive it or put any tags or plates until you do.This process can take some time usally several months so if you are looking for someting to drive immeditaly keep this in mind.Good luck!Do You Get Cheap Things at Government Auctions?
