What substrate is best used with argus monitors?

Well, first of all to provide proper bedding you need to have a sturdy floor because it is a lot of weight. I agree with Zoe's Mommy, I use a mix of Plain Topsoil with Washed and Sifted Play Sand. Get it moist, with a Dirt/Sand mix of around 50/50, 60/40 or 40/60 something, it depends on how moist it is and how well it packs. Ideally it should be about 2 feet deep, thus the need for a sturdy floor as that can get heavy. Doesn't have to be quite that deep, that is just an ideal depth. I also agree with signing up at: http://www.repticzone.com/forums/Monitor鈥?/a> ~ I own monitors as well and that is a very good site with a lot of experience, there is a guy on there who goes by Stephen Foo who has some nice looking Argus's as well as many others on there do. Bead-a-Beast and the other thing mentioned by the first answer is a crap bedding, you don't want to use it. Hope this answers your question and hope to see you at RZ. :)

Hmmm I have no experience with this species, sorry. For most monitors though, large fir bark chunks or Bed-a-beast is good. What substrate is best used with argus monitors?
50/50 top soil/ play sand mixture with cypress mulch mixed in. I'm going to recommend you visit http://repticzone.com/forums/Monitors/in鈥?/a> they can tell you everything you need to know, quite a few argus breeders on there
