Have to alter diet if I have low blood sugar? Is this normal?

I was referred to an Endocronologist for low blood sugar. He wants me to test my blood sugar for 2 weeks on my normal diet, and 2 weeks on a Mediterranean diet (which is very heavy in grain carbs)

My question is: do I really have to follow this diet he gave me? I'm already an incredibly healthy eatier - proteins, fruits, veggies... but I hate grain carbs (bread/pasta/rice) !!

Is it really necessary that I follow his diet? I hate carbs and I don't want to gain weight :(Have to alter diet if I have low blood sugar? Is this normal?
Did you tell him you don't eat grains and cereals??

Lots of doctors like the Mediteranean diet. You are right. It is way too heavy in grains for me or my sister. She has Hypoglycemia and I have Type 2 diabetes.

You can try instead the South Beach or some portions of the Atkins diets or the Zone diet too. They are all very low carb plans with sufficient protein and fats.

Call back and tell his office that you just can't eat all that grain stuff.Have to alter diet if I have low blood sugar? Is this normal?
It is important that you discuss this issue with your doctor.

The Mediterranean Diet has received significant attention in recent years. This type of diet is more healthful than the typical U.S. diet. It includes:

Meats, eggs, and sweets eaten only a few times each week. This makes the diet low in saturated fats and refined sugars.

The predominant fat used for cooking and flavor is olive oil-making the diet high in monounsaturated fats.

Food eaten daily include grains such as bread, pasta, couscous, and bulgur; fruits; beans and other legumes; nuts; vegetables; and cheese and yogurt. These choices make this diet high in fiber and rich in vitamins and minerals.

Again, always discuss your concerns with your doctor.Have to alter diet if I have low blood sugar? Is this normal?
