Oh well, I'm Italiana and I can assure that Mediterranean diet is the most complete one and that's why is the best kind of diet and it's even so tasty due to olive oil and use of onion, garlic and chili and fresh chees such as mozzarella and ricotta, with low fats. We use a great variety of pods, pasta, fruit and vegetables and our diet is very complete. In the other hand the asian diet, poor in meat, is rich in soybeans that is very important and they don't use dressings that's why their life is so long. But can they have a toast to life without our fantastic red-antioxidant wine? What is the healthiest diet in the world according to area eg Mediterranean chinese japanese etc?
During WWII, the Nazi's stripped Greece of food to feed their troops. A large part of the Greek population died of starvation.

What they discovered though is that the people who did not starve lived for a very long time. Their diet was studied in the 50's as being one of the best on the planet.

They eat a lot of wild greens, olive oil, and fish. They eat natural local ingredients and little animal protein.

There is a town in Japan that also has people who regularly live past 100 years. The main part of their diet is a special local potato which is very high in starch.
Japan has a super healthy diet because of all the raw food they eat - sushi, raw veg and even raw chicken ( I know -eew!)

Raw food keeps all its goodness. However, I wouldnt recommend eating raw poultry or red meat because you could get parasites, which happens sometimes in Japan.

In addition to the raw food, the japanese do not consume much alcohol. What is the healthiest diet in the world according to area eg Mediterranean chinese japanese etc?
Actually, the population with people living the longest is a small village in S.America. Most live to be over 100 and their diet consists of daily rice and beans. They also farm their own land well into old age.
Agree with Mary - the Japanese diet is incredibly healthy. Only recently have they seen an increase in heart disease due to the ever increasing introduction of Burgers %26amp; Fries (ie McDonalds). What is the healthiest diet in the world according to area eg Mediterranean chinese japanese etc?
Vegetarian is the best diet

No, im not a hippy.
Japan has a really healthy diet, and so does china, as they eat alot of raw oily fish and sushi, and i think olive oil can boosts your life expectancy as the worlds oldest women would pour olive oil on everything she ate and she also rubbed it into her skin.
It appears that both those areas you mentioned are exceptionally healthy. Common link is the amount of fish eaten in both Japan and the Mediterranean.

But there are also studies to show the healthy effects of Red wine and olive oil in the med.
Mediterranean
The Spartan Diet is billed as the "healthiest diet in history." It combines the best elements of the Mediterranean diet and other's posted above, but is really hard-core about a whole range of dietary and even non-dietary factors.
