my recently bought baby argus monitor seems to be sleeping in his water dish, im kind of worried, should i let him sleep in there? is it normal?REPTILE HELP!! why does my argus monitor sleep in his water dish?
There is nothing to worry about. This is normal behavior for them. I have a baby bal dragon monitor and she does the same thing. Sometimes it is a shedding thing. I encourage you to work with yours as much as possible, help it shed after soaking, rub it, find out where it likes to be rubbed.
They are great monitors...very intelligent.
One thing to do is to put an under tank heater under the bowl (under the tank(?)) you have the baby in. Many monitors who soak get upper respiratory problems because the water stays too cold. They love to bathe and if the water is warmer there is less chance for distress.
Check though my site below to reptilechannel and get more info about your baby. Skin blister rarely happens to them.REPTILE HELP!! why does my argus monitor sleep in his water dish?
hes probably shedding and needs humidity, try raising humidity, or maybe your temps are 2 high and hes cooling down. i never let my ball python stay in his water bowl for too long because i read that they can get blisters, this may be true for argus monitors
