Is the Mediterranean diet just another ridiculous diet?

My doctor wants me to follow the Mediterranean diet for 2 weeks to monitor my blood sugar. But that just seems stupid because it is LESS healthy than my current diet!

I'm all about clean eating: fresh fruits/produce, lean proteins, egg whites, no artificial crap and no soda. So if my diet is already super healthy, isn't ridiculous to ask me to change????Is the Mediterranean diet just another ridiculous diet?
It isn't another ridiculous diet, it is one of the better ones, because it is based on the mediterranean lifestyle.

That being said, you really do need to eat carbs for blood surgar. You should be eating complex carbs, like whole grain products and breads and pasta. So odds are if something is wrong, and he is suggesting that, it is because your current diet is missing something.|||Tell him your not interested and that you are content with your diet, its probably les healthy in areas and more healthy for your blood sugar ? |||I don't think so; Mediterranean people are known to have lower cancer rates and faster metabolisms than Americans despite the amount of fat in their diet. Especially the coconut oil? It's oil but it's a very healthy kind. I don't think it's ridiculous.|||mediterranean diet is not ridiculous, it is one of the healthiest ones, but maybe you don't need it. however, if your blood sugar levels are in any way 'suspicious' to your doctor, you should know not only food you eat (which seems to be excellently chosen), but when you eat it also counts, as well as ballancing it (certain percentage of protein, carbs and fats in each meal). a person with not so perfect sugar levels in his blood will raise the sugar even more if he eats too much fruit and especially if there is not enough time between meals.

there, hope it helps :)|||That's very ignorant of you to assume the Mediterranean diet is "ridiculous" .... the opposite is true.

An organic Mediterranean diet is probably one of the healthiest you can follow.

Carbs aren't 'bad' for you, they're essential for energy.
